STYLE POOH-BAH’S Spring 2012 Runway Sneak Peek
In less than a week, the fashion and beauty industry will come together for yet another season of designer shows at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Today, I got on the phone and e-mail to find out what the inspiration is behind some of the Spring 2012 collections that are expected to be seen next week. It all sounds exciting and one thing’s for sure…I can’t wait to get into some of these looks next Spring. Below, have a glimpse at some of the designer inspirations that will be presented:
“I have a love for the Isle of Capri. From the Piazzetta to Faraglioni Rocks, every inch of Capri is steeped with beautiful views and awe-inspiring colors of nature. Of course, no visit to Capri is complete without a trip and swim in the Blue Grotto. That rich beautiful blue hue gave me inspiration for Spring 2012.” - Son Jung Wan
For Spring 2012, designer Tracy Reese is inspired by a land of pure delight. Softly, voluminous styles pair with lean, refined silhouettes, evolving proportions with a focus on modern fluidity. ”A feminine yet relaxed mood is achieved through the juxtaposition of romance and sport, comfort and flattery. Subtle hues of khaki and blush mixed with pastel shades of waterfall, misty blue and aqua tears gradually intensify to deep saturated tones and neon brights, making a bold splash for the transition into summer. A drapey culotte jumpsuit in waterfall, complimented with drawstring waist and seductive neckline details, pairs with a lemon zest hat and printed platform sandals to embody the relaxed mood of the season,” says Reese.
“The woman that symbolizes the “every woman” icon today and brings the level of grace, glamour, command and unapologetic femininity of a modern-day Sophia Loren.” – William Calvert and Melanie Fraser Hart of Callula Lillibelle.
“My Spring 2012 collection is modern and geometric in cut and print, softened by earthy materials like wood and tortoise resin. Colors are vibrant and exciting – vermillion, tangerine, jade and azure are grounded by chocolate-brown and indigo.” - Michelle Smith, Designer and Creative Director, Milly
“The absence of flaw in beauty, is itself a flaw.” – Johnson Hartig of Libertine
“Primitive Dynamics” – Lubov and Max Azria about their inspiration for the Hervé Léger Spring 2012 collection.
“Blending Geometry and Form” – Lubov and Max Azria about their inspiration for the BCBGMAXAZRIA Spring 2012 collection.
