Even though the biggest red carpet award nights of influential style is now behind us, that doesn’t mean fashionistas are no longer interested with what’s spotted on the red carpet. After all, celebrity style makes the ‘red carpet’ world go round! But have you ever stopped to wonder what goes on behind the scenes on the PR side of leading fashion and lifestyle brands when it comes to getting their brands on the backs of celebs for movie premieres, the Oscars and other special events? Well, Celebrity Placement expert Susan J. Ashbrook gives us an inside glimpse in our Q&A today!
Naima Turner of Style Pooh-Bahs: The influence of ‘celebrity style’ has such an impact on how some consumers shop. There are even e-commerce sites dedicated to selling clothing looks specifically worn by top celebrities. Susan, if you were to gaze into a ‘fashion crystal ball’, would you predict there ever being a stop to the influential celeb style craze?
Susan J. Ashbrook: I was one of the early pioneer’s representing fashion designers in Hollywood – and everyone asked me then if the celeb style craze would end! I don’t see it ending but it will evolve. Kate Middleton and Michelle Obama may not be celebrities but their “high-low” style has influenced women. One day they wear something from Target or Top Shop and the following day a Michael Kors or Jenny Packham gown. Today’s fashion influencers don’t have to be celebrities. They come in all shapes, sizes and walks of life –they have a personal style worth emulating.
